GEOG 5800: Geographic Applications and Research Design

Picture
This graduate course introduces you to methods and approaches for good research design in geography. The focus of the course is development of a research proposal. We also discuss elements of research dissemination, such as conference presentation and journal publications.

The links below have some key resources related to the course.
  • Syllabus and Handouts
  • Lecture Slides (PDF versions of PowerPoint files)
  • Assessment Materials
  • Further Readings in Geographic Research

Please note:
1. I expect that students entering this course will come in having given some thought as to your preferred area of research and the specific research questions you wish to investigate. A basic understanding of the literature relevant to your research is also important for student success. Please prepare yourself in these areas before the course begins.
2. I taught this course quite possibly for the last time in fall 2015. I'm leaving my course resources up here for reference by any interested student or beginning researcher.
