Statistical Research Analytical Software
Below is a summary of the software resources that this course provides a gateway to understand. During the semester we will see and use some of the significant analytical tools provided by each package. The information below provides you with overall insight into the capabilities of each software package.
SPSS Statistical Analysis Software
SPSS is a tried and true software leader that provides most of the basic statistical functionality we will be looking for in this course. We will supplement with experience in other software packages you should be aware of, but SPSS has a diverse statistical toolkit that makes its interface worth learning.

Caliper's Maptitude GIS
Caliper's Maptitude GIS software provides a foundational set of geospatial analytical capabilities, embedded in a powerful but easy-to-learn user interface. We won't use Maptitude for much in this course, but its spatial statistical feature is worthwhile to cover in one of our labs. The video linked below gives a general overview of Maptitude's range of geospatial analytical capabilities, including the key concepts you will need to understand to start using the software.
